Natural philosophy covers, for the period concerned, a broad spectrum of disciplines : from the theory of elements to cosmology, from mineralogy to a part of psychology, through meteorology, botany and zoology. It is based on the general theory of movement and for neighborhood disciplines, on the one hand, the "intermediate" sciences (static, mechanics, optics, music) and, on the other hand, the disciplines of application such as medicine. , alchemy, astrology. The research carried out in this theme focuses on reconstructing both the textual traditions (corpus constitution, transmission and circulation problems between the various periods and the various cultural spheres : Greek, Arabic, Hebrew and Latin) and the conceptual traditions. with their own issues (analysis of foundations, innovations, use of analogies and models, role of experience, forms of mathematization ...). The topics covered, in particular those concerning the development of a world system, the analysis of the foundations of physical discipline, or the conception of the relationship between physics and mathematics, make it possible to trace paths of passage to others. themes.
